Benazir Income Support Program
Pakistan launched the Benazir Income Support Program to eliminate the negative effects of inflation on poor women. The Ehsaas program is one of 34 implementing agencies. Both BISP and Ehsaas programs will viewed from the same perspective. However, the Ehsaas program differs from BISP in a few ways. BISP has engaged in helping millions of destitute people. After the launch of the Ehsaas program, approximately 800,000 ineligible people were verified and the recipient list was screened to exclude them from the program. Ehsaas is an umbrella platform under which more than 280 programs have been launched. Some of them have mentioned below.
- Ehsaas Kafalat Program (to provide financial assistance to families of poor and deserving people).
- Ehsaas Education Scholarships (to promote equal education of boys and girls).
- Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Program (for financial assistance in secondary and higher secondary education).
- Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program (for financial assistance in case of epidemics or natural calamities).
- Ehsaas Nishwanma Program (to meet the nutritional deficiency of pregnant women and children under two years of age and to create a healthy foundation for children).
- Ehsaas Kafalat for special persons (to help disabled persons with medical assistance and independent living).
- Ehsaas Bachat Account (to provide cash flow as well as means of savings to women).
- Ehsaas Ration Concession Program (to help people vulnerable to inflation). Ehsaas interest-free loan program (to help middle-class people grow small businesses or start new businesses).

How Can I Benefit From the Ehsaas Labor Scheme?
Difference
The Ehsaas program is slightly different from the Benazir Income Support Program. The scope of the Ehsaas program is very wide. The program took into account the needs of the poor, disabled, transgenders, widows, orphans, students, travellers and women.
The Ehsaas program introduced savings accounts for women and ensured that they could save. Under the Ehsaas program, disabled persons get a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000 per month without interest and distributed among deserving people. Half of which has been earmarked for women, to help them start home businesses and lead an independent life.
Due to the staff’s poor performance in the Benazir Income Support Programme, lakhs of government employees, landlords, and ineligible persons were benefiting from this program. Ehsaas program started again and house-to-house surveys will conducted to check people’s eligibility. Offices will be set up in each tehsil for the dynamic survey and the lists of beneficiaries were re-checked. As a result, millions of ineligible people have been kicked out of the program. The administration will directed to ensure that aid reaches those who deserve it.
Now that the Ehsaas Program and Benazir Income Support Program have merged. So all the steps taken under the Ehsaas program has being carried out under BISP.
