The Punjab Government has established the VAWC Center for Women. Violence against women and children is not a new phenomenon in society, women have been subjected to violence in many forms throughout the ages, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, acid throwing, honor killings, and forced marriages are included. During the period of Jahiliyyah, women were always looked down upon and daughters were killed as soon as they were born.
The religion of Islam has provided equal rights to women in society and has provided better rights for every form of woman be it mother, daughter, sister, or wife. The saddest thing is that even in today’s educated age, women are subjected to various forms of violence.
The Government of Pakistan has established the VAWC Center for the Protection of Women. Under this, women can easily register their complaints and raise their voices against oppression. The VAWC Center provides a safe environment for women to report crimes.

Causes Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is a severe problem in Pakistan, for many reasons, such as long-standing family mistreatment, gender stereotyping, misinterpretation of religious teachings, limited access to education and information, financial dependence of women on men, weak law enforcement institutions, poor judicial systems, limited access to social services, and so on. Apart from this, women also have to face violence to maintain the honor of the family.
Violence against women was seen as common in society and it became very difficult to solve and change it. To create a strong society for women in Pakistan, it was necessary to address changes in education policy and their root causes. This was the reason why VAWC centers for women were established in every district of Punjab.

How To File Complaints At The VAWC Center For Women
If you are a woman and you are a victim of any kind of violence, you can raise your voice against oppression by registering your complaint through VAWC. Visit your nearest VAWC center and get guidance from a trained lady police officer there. Women who are worried about payment can complain to their nearest center.
Explain the incident of violence to the female officer in detail. Ask the police officer for a complaint form and fill it out. You can get help from any member of staff to fill out the complaint form.
Include all personal information in detail in the complaint form. If you have any evidence, photographs, or witness statements against the violence done to you, share them with the Ladies’ Police Officer. If you have been physically harassed, you will also submit your medical examination report. The VAWC team will investigate your case and resolve your issue with legal support and counseling.
