    Department of Primary and Secondary Health Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan has a population of more than 110 million.     The Punjab government has taken many new initiatives to address all the issues, including the LHWS program, MNCs program, Nutrition Program, and EMONC Basic Services Management Integrated Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition Program (IRMNCHNP).

    Primary Secondary Health Departments were established to provide access to health services to the poor and vulnerable in underdeveloped areas and to improve health outcomes among underprivileged children.

    Lady Health Worker Program (LHWP)

    Ladies health workers are women who provide health facilities by going door to door. All measures and services are provided by the government to improve the health of children. The name of this program (LHWP) Ladies Health Worker Program has named after them.

    A family planning and health care program called the Lady Health Worker Program. It started in 1994. Under this program, more than 42 thousand ladies health workers have appointed all over Punjab. To extend health services to rural areas and slums, and eliminate the gap in health facilities between cities and villages.

    Nutrition Program

    Under this program, health services are being provided by ladies’ health workers in every city and every house in Pakistan. These include the provision of polio vaccines to children under five years of age and the provision of iron, vitamin A, and MMS to mothers and children. Treatment facilities in selected BHUs of flood-affected areas were started in 2010. 

    The Punjab Government has established a total of 1775 Outdoor Therapeutic Programs (OTPs) and 58 Stabilization Centers (SCs) in 36 districts of the province. Treatment of severely malnourished children through ready-to-use therapeutic food is done at THQs RHCs and DHQs established at OTPs. Treatment is provided to severely malnourished children through the provision of medical treatment

    National Maternal and Child Health Program (NMCHP)

    (MNCH) program has started across the country in 2005. It aims to improve the health of the newborn child and its mother of the poor and backward classes. This program strengthens emergency care services in THQ and DHQ hospitals. Community Midwives has introduced a new cadre for skilled delivery in this program. This program focuses on improving the delivery methods of disease reduction services. 

    This program has started by the Ministry of Health in April 2005. It aims to create a society where no one suffers. To ensure the availability of high-quality services to newborn babies or their mothers from underprivileged communities due to curable causes. Its purpose is to provide access to deserving people to high-quality and efficient services for the development of provincial and district programs.

    PMHI Programme

    This program was launched to improve the basic health of the common people of Pakistan. Now this program has expanded to make it accessible to the people of rural areas and slums as well. The program focuses on women, the disabled, the elderly, and children. PMHI ensures the quality of health by implementing health services in urban areas of selected districts of Pakistan.
